Frosty: Adult, My hat is off to you. This is the exact point I was trying to make. I grew up the same way. Question though, how were you able to write the whole post? I always get cut off. Maybe its better off I don't know how... I'm gonna go have some fun now.

Adult: I am in my fifties. I grew up on a farm and as a child had to help butcher, pluck chicken feathers, gut, cut and wrap meat. I saw animals mate, give birth, get neutered. I literally saw life and death. I saw cartoons, read fairy tales, heard ghost stories, watched westerns. If you have the right parent as the teacher then your kids will grow up just fine. None of my country friends or their kids have been in gangs or violent or on drugs. They grew up working hard and were not afraid of hard work. We all had cho/res to do including shoveling manure and we weren't afraid to do it. It also kept us thin and in good shape. You learn responsibility because if you don't feed the animals daily they die. We cared about life. We all have happy normal lives and so do our kids. If you hide kids from reality they just get curious and sneak to learn what they want to know. You aren't doing them any favors. If you act squeamish about something they will pick up on that and it will be YOU who scares them. When I was in university we discussed this and all of us knew fairy tales were fake, cartoons weren't real and that we would be hurt if we actually did those things, and we loved them. Kids are NOT DUMB. Lazy idle hands are more apt to hurt your kids than this unrealistic game. If you keep them busy, teach them responsibility then they don't have time to run around bullying others. I have never struck anyone or hurt them. Some of you get too overly zealous and uppity. What I see are lazy kids afraid of work getting into trouble while parents forget to watch them in their teen years especially because they are too busy with their own lives to follow through on their responsibilities as a parent. Having kids takes out the trash once or twice a week isn't teaching them much.
