The bear probably didn't come down because of a dog in the neighborhood that kept barking at him or watching the tree. They should've checked for that and waited a day, the bear wouldn't have hurt anyone and would've returned home on his own. And, the bear IS dead from falling on his head.

Shoefly, there is an epidemic.They just killed three grizzlies up the road. My parents neighbors had one just two days ago try to get in through the dog door. The reason its on tv is cause theres nothing else to talk about out here in the sticks.

Jnim69, if there was an epidemic of bears in Montana, they wouldn't made such a big deal about one being in a tree in the city. I'm from Wisconsin, we have them here, not more than 40 miles from where I live, a friend last year showed a picture of a baby bear in his brothers tree, 40 miles away.
